This shot was taken about 1 minute after the first plane hit. I was underneath the World Trade Center on the shopping concourse, headed into the lobby of the north tower. Good thing I didn’t make it in there, as it was torched in front of me by jet fuel exploding down the elevator shafts. (I later read how many people inside were literally incinerated, clothes and hair burned right off their bodies). Everyone around me quickly exited up the escalator through the bookstore to the street, stunned to realize what had happened when they looked up.
